PRF vs PRP
PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin)
PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin, a form of blood plasma with a high concentration of platelets. Reconstituted blood plasma may include five to ten times more platelets than normal blood plasma. Platelets include natural growth factors, cytokines, and proteins that contribute to the repair of soft tissues and bones and perform the following functions:
Growth factors enhance cell repair and regeneration while also reducing inflammation.
Cytokines also help cell regeneration and wound healing by transmitting signals to the body.
Platelets adhere to injured musculoskeletal tissues, such as tendons and ligaments, to form a clot, prevent bleeding and speed the repair process.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It's a treatment that involves drawing a small amount of the patient's own blood, processing it to concentrate the platelets with a chemicals, putting in a blood thinner to prevent clotting, and then injecting this platelet-rich plasma back into the skin or scalp. PRP contains growth factors and proteins that promote healing and stimulate collagen production, but due to the blood thinner, have lower concentrations compared to PRF.
PRP is an older technology that has been around to help rejuvenate and improve skin texture, as well as promote hair growth with varying degrees of success. It's used in various cosmetic and medical treatments, including facial rejuvenation, acne scars, stretch marks, and hair loss.
Why PRF is preferred over PRP?
PRF is generally considered to be approximately 20-30% more effective than PRP due to lack of chemicals and blood thinners.
Sustained Release: PRF releases growth factors gradually, enhancing tissue regeneration over time.
Higher Concentration: It contains a higher concentration of platelets and growth factors, potentially leading to more effective results.
Natural Scaffold: PRF forms a natural fibrin scaffold, supporting tissue healing and integration.
No Additives: It doesn't require additives or anticoagulants, reducing the risk of adverse reactions.
PRF's effectiveness in promoting skin rejuvenation, tissue repair and all natural regeneration makes it a preferred choice in cosmetic and medical treatments.
Microneedling w/ PRF aka Vampire Facial
Microneedling with PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that combines microneedling technology with the application of PRF derived from the patient's own blood. PRF contains growth factors that promote collagen production and tissue regeneration, enhancing skin texture and tone. It helps reduce wrinkles, scars, and hyperpigmentation, resulting in smoother, rejuvenated skin with minimal downtime.
Mesotherapy Injections
Mesotherapy is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting liquid PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) directly into the middle layer (mesoderm) of the skin. This technique is used to treat various skin conditions such as aging signs, crow’s feet, loose or overly elastic skin, cellulite, and hair loss. Mesotherapy aims to nourish and rejuvenate the skin by improving circulation and stimulating collagen and elastin production, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.
Botox Injections
Botox, short for Botulinum toxin, is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In cosmetic applications, Botox is injected in small doses to temporarily paralyze facial muscles, preventing them from contracting and thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It is commonly used to smooth forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows. Botox results typically last for several months, after which additional injections are needed to maintain the effects.
Bio-filler - the All Natural Filler
Biofiller refers to PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) gel scaffold enriched with your own growth factors which is the used in cosmetic injections to add volume to the skin or reshape facial contours. Unlike traditional synthetic fillers, biofillers are derived from natural or biological sources such as PRF. These substances gradually break down and are absorbed by the body over time. Biofillers are popular for their natural-looking results and reduced risk of allergic reactions compared to synthetic fillers. They are commonly used to smooth wrinkles, contour facial features, and restore facial volume.
